Conversion ManagerJob Description:
This role will be responsible for organising and controlling the different job roles and technical resources within the Conversion department to achieve productivity, quality and waste targets, with minimum cost whilst respecting safety, hygiene and environment policies.You will lead strategic continuous improvement and succession planning in the department.
Tasks and Responsibilities :
Understand the machines process overview, correct use and a good understanding of the product mix
Demonstrate health and safety leadership and compliance
Ability to interpret information in decision making and identify key problems to solve.
Fully understand company systems and able to sustain implemented processes
Work as an effective department manager, leading, guiding & inspiring others.
Take the initiative to problem solve, challenge and improve to deliver the agreed targets
Ability to generate innovative solutions to work situations
Ensure compliance with the company Safety, Hygiene and Environmental policies by the department
Ensure department participation in the behavioural safety program
Investigate and take corrective action on near misses and accidents
Owner of risk assessments in the department
Take the lead on any people related issues, such as recruitment, absence management, disciplinary issues, etc
Identify training needs of their staff and co-ordinate the implementation of the training using the defined methodology.Multiskilling operators as much as possible to enable a flexible work force
Ability to analyse data and implement improvement action plans to meet or exceed machine targets- utilising other departments as and when necessary
Implement, encourage and sustain SPS as required
Ensure SOPs are respected, and machines are in proper condition (including preventative and corrective maintenance)
Implement the use of improvement tools in the department for speeds, sets, down time & waste
Lead an effective continuous improvement meeting structure
Essential Skills and Experience
Excellent strategic planning and organisational skills.
Experience of leading large teams within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Proven leadership and people management skills and experience
Knowledge of World Class Manufacturing tools i.e. 5’s
Experience of Total Productive Maintenance
Proven role model with a professional approach and problem solver
Relevant IT system knowledge (GPT, MS Office suite, Time & Attendance system).
