Job summary

JLR is recruiting a Controls & Test Manager for its Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton. You will lead a team of controls, test and manufacturing systems engineers, shaping how propulsion systems are designed, tested and improved with safety prioritized.

The role covers automation platforms, Siemens and Rockwell PLCs, Python and C#, and driving digitalisation and data-driven decision making to boost quality, efficiency and sustainable growth.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in controls, automation, test engineering and industrial software development in high-volume manufacturing.
• Experience leading technical teams within manufacturing systems, controls, automation or test engineering.
• Expertise across Siemens and Rockwell PLC platforms, industrial communications and system integration.
• Experience developing software solutions using Python, C#, SQL and related industrial applications.
• Experience with advanced manufacturing technologies, robotics, data analytics; propulsion or battery manufacturing knowledge advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of controls, test and manufacturing systems engineers with coaching and hands-on problem solving.
• Drive improvements in manufacturing performance reducing downtime, scrap and variation.
• Define and standardise controls, automation and reporting architectures across manufacturing facilities to enhance reliability and scalability.
• Deliver digitalisation initiatives for visibility, traceability and decision-making through data-driven insights.
• Act as SME for controls, automation, test engineering and manufacturing systems with safety as a priority.

As a Controls & Test Manager, you’ll lead technical excellence across propulsion manufacturing, influencing how cutting‑edge systems are designed, tested and continuously improved. What To Expect

• Leading and developing a team of controls, test and manufacturing systems engineers, providing technical guidance, coaching and hands‑on problem solving
• Driving improvements in manufacturing performance, reducing downtime, scrap and process variation through engineering excellence and continuous improvement
• Defining and standardising controls, automation and reporting architectures across manufacturing facilities to enhance reliability and scalability
• Delivering digitalisation initiatives that improve visibility, traceability and decision‑making through data‑driven insights
• Acting as the subject matter expert for controls, automation, test engineering and manufacturing systems, ensuring safety remains the highest priority

What You’ll Need

• Demonstrating extensive experience in controls, automation, test engineering and industrial software development within high‑volume manufacturing environments
• Leading technical teams within manufacturing systems, controls, automation or test engineering functions
• Applying expertise across Siemens and Rockwell PLC platforms, industrial communications and manufacturing system integration
• Developing software solutions using technologies such as Python, C#, SQL and related industrial applications
• Bringing experience of advanced manufacturing technologies, robotics, data analytics and digital manufacturing solutions, with propulsion or battery manufacturing knowledge being advantageous
