Qualifications

The Client

With a focus on operational technology and digital transformation, this client has been a leader in advanced system integration for decades, optimizing efficiency and delivering performance on a massive scale. They work in highly regulated and challenging industrial environments, delivering critical projects across energy, water, renewables, and manufacturing.

Summary of Role:

The client is seeking enthusiastic and experienced engineers to join their existing Energy team. The role involves software design, development, and implementation for PLC-based control and/or SCADA systems. The successful candidate will work in a team throughout all project lifecycle stages for the delivery of PLC and SCADA/DCS systems, primarily in renewable power generation and storage. Projects include system upgrades, modifications for extensions and improvements, and new builds. Candidates should have proven mainstream control automation experience across various projects using the platforms listed below.

Essential Requirements:

• At least 2 years of experience with one of the following technologies:
• Siemens PCS7 Automation Stations
• Siemens TIA Portal for S7 PLCs
• Rockwell ControlLogix/CompactLogix with Studio 5000
• Schneider M580/M340 with EcoStruxure Control Expert

• At least 2 years of experience and advanced SCADA configuration skills with one of the following applications:
• Siemens PCS7 OS
• COPA-DATA Zenon
• Siemens WinCC
• Rockwell FactoryTalk View SE
• Codra Panorama

• Experience in producing Function Design Specifications, System/Detailed Design Specifications, and Test Specifications
• Experience coding software to IEC61131 standards using ladder, function block diagram, sequential function chart, and structured text
• Experience performing Internal and Customer Factory Acceptance Tests
• Knowledge of project lifecycle processes and QA procedures
• Willingness to travel and work away when required
• Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable Requirements/Experience:

• Knowledge of communication protocols such as Profibus/Profinet, Modbus TCP/RTU, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850, DNP3, etc.
• Experience with virtualization technologies like VMWare or HyperV
• Experience with Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 and domain configuration
• Experience configuring network switches and firewalls
• Experience with simulation software such as SIMIT, PICS, or WinMOD
• Experience in renewable power generation control systems
• Site work and commissioning experience in automation control systems
• Experience with legacy PLCs/software like Rockwell RSLogix 5, 500, or 5000, Schneider Unity Pro/Concept, Siemens Step 7
