Role Overview

We are currently looking for a Controls Engineering Technician to join a leading manufacturing company based in the Plymouth area.

As the Day Shift Controls Engineering Technician, you will be working with the asset care team and providing control system support within the assembly production areas.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

Your duties as the Controls Engineering Technician will be varied; however, the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  1. Implement improvements to TPM processes to increase OEE, liaise with department representatives to ensure that PM is successfully initiated and completed within the time frame.
  2. Provide support to set-up and maintain pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems on production equipment.
  3. Read electrical drawings, analyse, troubleshoot, and perform maintenance and repairs of any plant electrical systems (including, but not limited to, programmable controllers, servo motors, AC motors, contactors, etc.).
  4. Connect to PLC machinery to help diagnose complex faults and make minor software changes, when required under the guidance of the process engineering team.

Role Requirements

To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Day Shift Controls Engineering Technician, we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

  1. Level 3 qualification in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science is essential.
  2. Proven industry experience in working as a manufacturing engineer/technician with experience in fault finding and root cause analysis within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency of PLC operations, robotics, maintenance, programming, and the ability to read schematics or machining, tooling design, tooling assembly, part drawings, and pneumatic schematics.
