Responsibilities include developing and tuning controllers, modeling dynamics, and validating hardware behaviour, while ensuring robust performance and failure handling in real-world scenarios.

Qualifications

• Robot control theory in practice, MPC, whole-body control, state estimation.
• Strong dynamics knowledge and real-world validation.
• Experience transferring controllers from simulation to legged hardware.

Own whole-body control: how the humanoid stands, walks, recovers from a push and stays safe while doing it.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and tune whole-body, balance and locomotion controllers.

• Own controller performance, stability margins and failure behaviour.

Requirements:

Robot control theory in practice - MPC, whole-body control, state estimation; strong dynamics; experience taking a controller from simulation onto real legged hardware.

The Manchester factory comes online Q1 2027. Roles are recruited ahead of that date, with start dates agreed individually.
