The Opportunity

Our PLF International business designs flexible, gentle, user-friendly powder filling machines for rigid and semi-rigid containers. We are recruiting a Controls Engineer to implement and support our powder filling lines. When not travelling, you will be based at our site in Ardleigh near Colchester, Essex, reporting to our Lead Controls Engineer.

On a typical day, you may:

1. Support multiple projects using your programming skills including PLC, HMI, networking, and MES.
2. Be the go-to person for controls and electronic synchronized drive systems, motion technology such as servo drives, kinetix, and virtual axes.
3. Lead design and implementation of automation for projects and machinery.
4. Collaborate with teams such as sales, engineering, and R&D.
5. Occasionally lead projects and provide on-site guidance.
6. Be responsible for design, testing, and manufacturing costs on projects.

Requirements for the role

• Knowledge of motion control implementation and solutions.
• Experience with Siemens TIA portal and/or Step 7 (training available for Rockwell/Allen Bradley).
• Experience working with User Requirement Specifications & Functional Design Specifications.
• Ability to generate internal Functional Design Specifications.
• Willingness to travel approximately 60%, with communication primarily via video.
