Job description

Rivan Industries (Rivan.com) is a synthetic fuel company designed to decarbonise heavy industry. We aim to make synthetic fuel cheaper than fossil fuels and sustain life on Earth by keeping the CO2 locked underground.

We design and manufacture modular synthetic fuel plants consisting of a DAC system, an Alkaline Electrolyser, and a Sabatier Reactor, whilst vertically integrating with off-grid DC solar and the European gas grid. Here’s our entire business plan. We’ve recently deployed the UK’s largest synthetic fuel plant and are planning to 1000x this scale in the next 2 years.

We build almost everything in-house, meaning getting our systems up and running fast is critical to our timelines. We’re looking for someone to own the step when our hardware is ready and needs to be connected to our power system and controls to bring it to life. This will include some software, hardware, debugging, and general ingenuity to reduce the time our engineers are bottlenecked by not having a system humming away.

The role:

  • Select, install, configure, and debug sensors/actuators for DAC/Electrolyser/Reactor pilots
  • Design and build evaluation/test rigs
  • Integrate and commission electrical & controls cabinets
  • Plan and execute FAT/SAT, I/O/loop checks, and start-up support
  • Produce clear wiring schedules, test reports, and change logs
  • Work with process/mech/EE teams to quickly resolve field issues

Core skills:

  • Recent graduates or 1-3+ years of experience
  • 4–20 mA / 0–10 V analogue signalling
  • Modbus (RTU/TCP), CAN bus, OPC UA, TCP/IP, RS-485
  • Electrical noise sources, effects, and mitigation methods
  • Read, analyse, and implement schematics, wiring, and network topologies
  • Basic PLC/HMI troubleshooting (online monitoring, fault finding)
  • Hands-on panel wiring, crimping, and field terminations

Preferred skills:

  • HIL testing
  • SolidWorks Electrical / other ECAD packages
  • Python 3
  • Linux fundamentals & networking tools (ssh/ping/traceroute)

Specifics:

  • £50-70k salary depending on experience
  • Significant share options as part of the early team
  • In-person work at our HQ in Bermondsey, South London
  • Extensive relocation support, including £6,000 per year extra to live close to our HQ
  • Private health insurance
  • Unlimited time off

We encourage exceptional applicants from all backgrounds to apply for this role, even if they do not meet all the requirements listed.
