As a Controls Engineer, you will be directly involved in designing and implementing control solutions for world-class automated material handling systems. You will ensure consistent standards and drive continuous improvement within the design team.

You will leverage your expertise in controls engineering to provide software design for PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems, following through to testing and commissioning, while being aware of project costs, timelines, and requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver project scope meeting safety, quality, on-time, and budget requirements.
• Produce PLC software and visualization systems.
• Emulate control systems virtually and test PLC software.
• Interpret electrical schematics and design inputs.
• Carry out controls engineering activities related to project design and implementation.
• Ensure systems are CE Compliant with Machinery Directive.
• Document all related activities, including design calculations, specifications, manuals, and test plans.
• Commission control systems onsite, supporting activities and user training.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers, providing high-quality service.
• Promote continuous improvement in processes to enhance project delivery.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree in Engineering (Bachelor’s or Master’s preferred) or HNC/HND in Electrical/Mechatronics/Controls Engineering.
• Experience with Siemens S7 or TIA Portal.
• Proven hands-on experience in industrial automation.
• Knowledge of PLC development tools.
• Proficiency with industrial networks like Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP.
• Experience with E-plan is a plus.
• Understanding of electrical and electronic manuals and drawings.
• Knowledge of Machine Directive standards.
• Understanding of distributed control systems.
• Experience with software testing and emulation.
• Full UK driving license; travel up to 60% to UK and EMEA sites.
