Job description

Our opportunity for Production Controller (based onsite in Cambridge) is to oversee the full production lifecycle from Customer order, Programme Planning, Material supply and Production progress through to Customer delivery.

You will manage the day to day housekeeping activities on the MRP system including but not limited to closing of shop orders, issuing of materials, and releasing tasks to work, and deliver effective data reports and required actionsto ensure TAKT time adherence and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Day to day responsibility for ensuring MRP production transactions are current.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for material and production planning, liaising with internal teams to ensure that necessary resources are available on time.
  • Ensuring effective material management, including shortage data which is shared with all stakeholders with risks understood and a clear plan of action.

Tasks:

  • Plan and manage production tasks to protect TAKT including processing of required documentation.
  • Timely closure of production tasks all parts are issued, allowing rolled up costs to be visible to project managers and finance.
  • Planning ownership of a programme stream and control of its key planning input to the Master Production Schedule.
  • Liaison with other internal programme streams to ensure coordinated planning and ultimately operational plan adherence to deliver on time load and off load.
  • Track, compile & report performance via KPI deck as defined by Production Support Manager.
  • Identify production risks (e.g., material shortages) and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Actively manage and resolve material shortage issues, ensuring timely procurement or re-scheduling to meet production needs.
  • Shop order housekeeping to maintain correct MRP demand for Supply Chain activities.
  • Monitor execution of shop orders ensuring offload dates are achieved.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to complete shop orders on time and within customer specification.
  • Ensuring Health & Safety requirements are always met.
  • Internal communications with Land Systems planning and manufacturing Manager, Production Engineers, Production Managers and Manufacturing supervisors.
  • Internal communications with all departments within Land Systems to support MRP
  • and stock inventory related queries.

Experience:

  • Competent use of MRP systems.
  • Competent I.T. skills i.e. Word, Excel and MRP.
  • Ability to interact with all members of the team and possible customer interface.
  • Understand planning methods and skills.
  • Experience of working within a Production Planning / Manufacturing Engineering office.
  • Understanding of assembly systems.
  • Basic Understanding of Inventory management.
  • Understanding of project based systems.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and focus on critical tasks to meet production goals.
  • Ability to analyse production data and operational trends to identify areas for improvement and propose solutions.
  • Ensuring accuracy in production planning, reporting, and execution.
  • Ability to adjust quickly in response to changing conditions or unexpected issues.
  • A proactive approach to continually improving production processes and eliminating inefficiencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem solving skills, identifying errors and providing solutions to resolve.
  • Technical skills – Ability to navigate the carious software used within MRP/ ERP.
