Job Description:

Are you looking for a career move that will put you at the heart of a global financial institution? Then bring your skills in risk and control, quality assurance and communication to Citi’s Control Testing Team.

By joining Citi, you will become part of a global organisation whose mission is to serve as a trusted partner to our clients by responsibly providing financial services that enable growth and economic progress.

Team/Role Overview

This position reports to the Services, Markets, Banking/International & Client Control Testing Automation Initiatives Head within the Services, Markets, Banking/International & Client Control Testing Utility. It is an execution-oriented individual contributor role responsible for driving controls testing automation outcomes.

Control monitoring and testing are processes for assessing the completeness, timeliness, and accuracy of control execution, providing valuable information regarding the effectiveness of the bank’s key controls. The Control Testing Automation Analyst works with the Services, Markets, Banking/International and Client teams to identify and prioritize the development of automated solutions for scalable, reliable, timely, and cost-effective control monitoring and testing. The successful candidate will be a subject matter expert on data-based control testing digitization and automation techniques, with familiarity with emerging technologies around data management and analytics.

Strong project management skills are essential, as the role involves prioritizing automation efforts, developing requirements documents, and defining user acceptance criteria to support the automation team. The role also involves strategic responsibilities over the technical approach. Excellent communication skills are required to build trust and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels, especially senior management.

What you’ll do

  • Support the Controls Testing Utility by identifying and prioritizing automation opportunities and developing requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on testing automation initiatives, providing support and ensuring solutions are sustainable and appropriate based on risk and control frequency.
  • Monitor initial testing results and coordinate hand-offs to offshore Analysts, ensuring procedures are accurate and complete.
  • Lead automation lifecycle activities, including proposing solutions, grooming, unblocking hurdles, and validating designs. Prepare for rollout and validate outputs to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Work with Control Owners to embed controls, monitoring, and testing into system enhancements.
  • Research data availability, including location, format, and access requirements.
  • Maintain relationships and accountability with partners to ensure the success of control testing initiatives.
  • Act as liaison with testing and automation teams regarding post-rollout issues.
  • Maintain the automation dashboard, ensuring timely and quality project delivery.
  • Assess risks in business decisions, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and escalate issues as needed.
  • Support other departmental initiatives as directed.

What we’ll need from you

  • Subject matter expertise in data management and reporting.
  • Strong project management experience, especially in Risk & Controls.
  • Excellent analytical and continuous improvement skills.
  • Good understanding of MCA frameworks and processes.
  • Knowledge of end-to-end processes within Markets, Banking, Client, and/or Services is advantageous.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong relationship management and influencing skills.
  • Ability to challenge and think independently.
  • Experience working with virtual teams across geographies and time zones.
  • Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, FDR, IBS, Eclipse, and Workflow Management systems.
  • Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile, PMP) is a plus.
