Position Purpose

The Controls Testing Technician is responsible for the high-quality delivery of individual components as part of a larger system. This role primarily focuses on equipment testing and repair, but also assists integration in the shop on specific project tasks. While not a primary member of a projects core team, this role must effectively work with the project and operations teams to ensure equipment is appropriately tested, QCd, and prepped for a job. Additionally, as the Controls Testing Technician retains significant historical information on the beginning of a machine and systems life cycle, they also are expected to improve workflows and contribute lessons learned back to the wider team to continuously move the business and team forward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tests equipment regularly performing basic device configuration and quality control checks
  • Participates in commissioning of equipment in the factory
  • Coordinates and works with project teams to successfully complete project testing
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, and assists in the maintenance of all TAIT controls equipment
  • Provides regular status reports back to the organization and team
  • Completes machine and system redlines and non-conformance reporting to provide feedback to design teams and organization
  • Actively maintains golden device configurations and parameterizations
  • Actively maintains QC and other testing documents for controls equipment
  • Acts as a subject matter expert for tested equipment providing technical support to onsite clients and teams
  • Participates in lessons learned and continuous improvement activities to close the loop on design decisions
  • Participates in support rotations to assist in equipment troubleshooting
  • Can mobilize to site for the targeted assistance of technical work with the core project team

Position Requirements

  • Formal technical background
  • Theater/entertainment experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of entertainment/industrial automation technology and equipment
  • Basic knowledge at a minimum of PLC programming and control theory
  • Experience with basic electrical fabrication & electrical safe working practices
  • Ability to conduct equipment failure diagnosis and analysis
