The Person:

We seek a Control Systems & Project Engineer to join our Nuneaton team. You will have a technical engineering qualification or relevant work experience.

Our Nuneaton site is expanding, and this is a great opportunity for a Control Systems & Projects Engineer. Your role will involve diagnosing complex technical issues on systems in our Snacktory.

The Role Responsibilities:

We are looking for a skilled and motivated control systems & Project Engineer with expertise in operations support and preventative maintenance. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Siemens, Omron, and Allen-Bradley PLC systems. This role is vital in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and optimization of our manufacturing processes through effective control systems management.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for control systems and automation issues to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure seamless operations and resolve equipment challenges promptly.
  • Monitor control systems for performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions.

Preventative Maintenance:

  • Develop and execute preventative maintenance schedules for PLCs, HMIs, and automation hardware.
  • Conduct regular system health checks, backups, and updates to ensure long-term reliability.
  • Implement predictive maintenance strategies using data-driven insights to reduce failures.

PLC Programming and Configuration:

  • Maintain, modify, and optimize PLC programs for Siemens, Omron, and Allen-Bradley systems to meet production needs.
  • Design and integrate new control system solutions to improve process efficiency and flexibility.

System Upgrades and Improvements:

  • Lead upgrades or expansions to control systems aligned with operational needs.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance system capabilities and productivity.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensure all control systems adhere to safety standards and regulations.
  • Maintain detailed documentation, including electrical schematics, software backups, and maintenance records.

Project Management:

  • Plan, execute, and deliver engineering projects to improve operations, efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage contractors, and ensure safety and environmental compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with business goals.

Qualifications:

  • Electrical competence, BS7671, UK electrical test & inspection qualifications.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Automation, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in manufacturing or industrial control systems engineering.
  • Proficiency with Siemens, Omron, and Allen-Bradley PLCs, including programming and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of industrial networks and protocols (Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, Modbus).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with SCADA systems and HMI development.
  • Familiarity with robotics, motion control, and advanced automation.
  • Knowledge of safety systems and standards (SIL, ISO 13849).
  • PLC platform certifications or training is a plus.
