Control Systems Engineer

We're looking for a Control Systems Engineer to support automation projects and ongoing improvements across site equipment and systems. This is a varied role where you'll be hands-on with PLCs, software changes, commissioning, and technical troubleshooting, all while keeping safety and compliance front and centre.

You'll play a key part in developing, maintaining, and upgrading control systems for existing and new machinery. Working alongside engineers, maintenance and production teams, you'll ensure systems operate reliably and meet safety and quality requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting and maintaining control systems across site
  • Developing software changes for automated machinery to improve performance
  • Recording and managing any changes made to programmed systems
  • Creating and updating diagrams, electrical drawings, and supporting technical documentation
  • Working with engineering and operations teams on commissioning of new or modified equipment
  • Advising teams on safe use of programmable machinery and electrical systems
  • Conducting safe trials and testing new solutions with appropriate analysis and recommendations
  • Identifying and addressing gaps in safety compliance of electrical systems

Key skills:

  • Degree or hands-on experience in Electrical, Electronics or Software Engineering
  • Experience with PLC programming across a range of platforms
  • Strong understanding of automated systems, ideally including robotics, pneumatics or hydraulics
  • Experience in commissioning and process improvements
  • Good grasp of industry safety standards and regulations
  • Confident working in cross-functional teams and explaining technical concepts clearly
  • Skilled in using MS Office tools for documentation and communication
