Overview ...

Develop PLC, HMI, motion control and safety software for bespoke packaging machinery. Manage projects throughout their life cycle, from initial design spec. through to coding, testing, on-site commissioning and customer training. Perform fault-finding and implement upgrades to existing machinery, often to tight deadlines, in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

The Opportunity ...

Responsibilities
  • Produce control system software.
  • Produce electrical wiring schematics.
  • Develop supporting documentation.
  • Work with customers, suppliers, mechanical design engineers and service engineers to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Investigate and develop new equipment and technology.
  • Perform fault-finding and modifications to existing machinery on customer sites.
  • Provide telephone and remote access support to customers, Proseal engineers and distributors.
  • Install and commission Proseal equipment in the UK and overseas.
  • The jobholder should be aware that on occasion, working outside of normal hours will be required.
Required Experience
  • Strong PLC programming skills.
  • Experience with configuring multi-axis servo motion applications.
  • Experience with developing HMI software.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles.
  • Strong understanding of functional safety and the associated regulations.
  • Degree/ HNC/ HND qualified in a related field.
Beneficial Skills and Experience
  • Experience with Mitsubishi control gear.
  • IoT skills including HTML, databases, high-level coding.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols including TCP/IP, Modbus, OPC UA.
  • Project management skills.
  • Knowledge of CE and UL legislation, the Machinery Directive and ISO/EN 13849-1.
  • Food industry experience.
