Location: Chesterfield - Office-Based with Some Hybrid Flexibility
Salary: Up to GBP55,000 DOE

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated Control Systems Engineer to step into a senior role with real influence. You'll work directly with the owner and senior team, taking ownership of projects and helping shape the future direction of the business. As part of a small, fast-moving company, your impact will be visible from day one and there's clear potential for rapid progression as the team grows.

The Role:

As a Control Systems Engineer you'll lead automation projects from brief to commissioning. This includes working closely with clients to define solutions, programming PLCs and HMIs, collaborating with the internal electrical and workshop teams and carrying out commissioning and testing on-site.

The role is predominantly office-based (around 70%), with flexibility to work from home when focusing on design tasks. Most site visits are local, with occasional travel across the UK as required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead full project life cycle: from client brief, design, programming and testing through to final commissioning
• Program and develop PLC and HMI/SCADA visualisation systems
• Collaborate closely with the in-house electrical design team and panel workshop
• Carry out system testing and on-site commissioning
• Provide occasional electrical fault-finding and after-sales support
• Serve as a key technical contact for clients during project delivery

What We're Looking For:

• Hands on experience in control systems or automation engineering
• Working knowledge of PLC programming and industrial control systems
• Confident working independently without the need for close supervision
• Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise directly with clients
• UK driving licence for travel to local and occasional national sites

Desirable (but not essential):

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field
• Experience with HMI, Scala and a variety of PLC platforms
• Familiarity with panel design and build processes (though not required hands-on)
