We are seeking a multi-skilled, articulate, and enthusiastic Field Service / Commissioning Engineer to develop control software skills and provide comprehensive system support during customer handover.
Our client has nearly fifty years of expertise in designing, developing, and manufacturing bespoke automation and robotic systems across various industries. Recognized as one of the UK's leading automation solution providers, they are expanding their multidisciplinary team to deliver machine control system solutions for diverse projects.
Your responsibilities will include writing and developing machine control software, PLC & HMI coding, and safety systems for automation projects. You will oversee commissioning, develop control systems for special-purpose machinery, and ensure successful customer sign-off through FAT & SAT testing. Additionally, you will handle electrical design, create detailed circuit diagrams, select components, and integrate systems with robots such as Scara, Delta, and 6-axis models.
The role requires effective communication with customers, suppliers, and team members, working both independently and collaboratively to deliver projects on time and within budget. You will prepare electrical documentation, ensure compliance with European and international safety standards, and supervise electrical technicians during system build. Customer support may involve site visits across the UK for installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
The ideal candidate will have strong software design and PLC coding skills, preferably with experience in B&R, Omron, Siemens, and Rockwell. A degree or higher in electrical/electronic engineering or a related discipline is expected. Proficiency in electrical design using ePlan, knowledge of electrical standards, and experience with robot integration (Scara, Delta, 6-axis) are highly desirable.
