This is a hands-on, multi-skilled role requiring both electrical and mechanical maintenance expertise, with a strong emphasis on preventative maintenance, fault-finding, and automation systems, including PLCs and robotics.

The successful candidate will carry out both planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of equipment and systems-ensuring minimal downtime and high production performance. You'll also take responsibility for writing and executing PLC programs, maintaining robotics, and supporting firmware updates and equipment testing.

This is a varied role, with duties ranging from on-the-ground technical troubleshooting to contributing to the development or relocation of machinery and production processes. You'll work both independently and as part of a wider maintenance and engineering team, ensuring seamless communication across shifts and upholding site safety, hygiene, and operational standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing preventative and corrective maintenance across mechanical, electrical, and robotic systems
  • Diagnosing faults and resolving issues efficiently using technical drawings and diagnostic tools
  • Writing, testing, and deploying PLC programs and logic for field devices
  • Maintaining records in the maintenance management system and updating machine files
  • Supporting site infrastructure, including boilers, compressors, chillers, lighting, and fire safety systems
  • Ensuring a clean, organised, and safe maintenance environment
  • Suggesting improvements to enhance safety, uptime, and productivity
  • Providing technical support to operators and production teams
  • Assisting in new equipment installation and commissioning as required

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent experience in engineering (electrical/mechanical)
  • Proven experience in preventative maintenance and equipment repair
  • Proficiency in reading electrical/mechanical schematics
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming and robot maintenance
  • Strong IT skills, including MS Office and maintenance systems
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Calm under pressure, proactive, and detail-oriented
  • Familiarity with hygiene, safety, and environmental standards

This role is ideal for a self-motivated technician who takes pride in maintaining high standards and enjoys working in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.
