Job summary

Automation Experts in Lancashire is seeking a Controls/Software Engineer to design, develop and commission bespoke automation and process control systems across multiple industries. The role covers software development, testing, on-site deployment and ongoing customer support.

You'll work with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Schneider and B&R PLC platforms, liaising with customers to understand requirements and deliver reliable solutions.

Qualifications

• Proficient in control systems or industrial software engineering.
• Experience with PLC programming across major platforms.
• Electrical systems, testing procedures and commissioning activities.
• Fault-finding and technical problem-solving abilities.
• Customer-facing engineering support and clear communication.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Developing and writing software for customer-specific automation projects.
• Testing, installing and deploying software remotely and onsite.
• Supporting commissioning activities and ensuring systems meet customer specifications.
• Working with multiple PLC platforms including Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Schneider and B&R.
• Supporting electrical testing and fault-finding activities.
• Liaising with customers to understand requirements and provide ongoing support.
• Working with engineering and sales teams throughout project delivery.
• Onsite activities while maintaining H&S standards.
• Assisting with IT-related issues when required.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Controls / Software Engineer to join a well-established engineering business specialising in Bulk Material and Process Handling Systems for leading names within the food and confectionary sector. With projects spanning from initial concept through to commissioning and ongoing support, this role offers excellent technical variety, customer interaction and long-term development within automation and control systems engineering.

We are keen to hear from motivated Controls Engineers looking to grow, as well as experienced Automation Engineers with a track record of successful project delivery.

The Role

From software development and commissioning through to customer support and technical problem-solving, this varied role offers the opportunity to grow your skills and take ownership in areas such as:

• Developing and writing software for customer-specific automation projects
