Control of Contractors Coordinator

Contract: Professional Services, Production & Technology

Location: Basildon, SS14 3EL

Hours of work: 40

Contract Type: Permanent

The Control of Contractors Coordinator is responsible for the successful and safe management of all subcontractor works through the implementation and ownership of the client’s work authorisation and permit to work processes.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring that all activities carried out by third-party contractors are executed in a controlled, compliant, and safe manner, while also aligning with site-specific security and operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and book in subcontractors, including escorting onsite and ensuring compliance with security and site procedures.
  • Review and validate subcontractor documentation (RAMS, risk assessments, permits) and manage the prequalification process.
  • Issue and oversee Work Authorisations and Permits to Work in line with client and site requirements.
  • Deliver subcontractor inductions and carry out ad-hoc inspections to maintain safety, quality, and compliance.
  • Provide administrative support including logbooks, compliance records, and site security arrangements.
  • Liaise with subcontractors and stakeholders to coordinate works and ensure timely approvals.
  • Support the engineering team in planning and prioritising tasks, adapting to varying workloads across site.
Professional and Personal Competencies / Qualifications
  • Experience in a similar role preferred - with good understanding of M&E systems and compliance.
  • IOSH Managing Safely and ideally NEBOSH qualified or working towards.
  • Proven ability to manage subcontractors effectively with a focus on safety and operations.
  • Skilled in developing positive relationships with internal teams and external partners.
  • Capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced, reactive environment.
  • Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of statutory and legislative requirements within facilities or engineering.
  • Proactive and detail-oriented with a focus on delivering safe outcomes.
  • Ability to assess risk and act decisively in dynamic situations.
  • Committed to high standards of safety, quality, and service delivery.
  • UK Driving Licence (preferred).
