Job summary

Centrica plc is seeking an experienced SC&I Engineer to support Gas Infrastructure assets across onshore and offshore sites, with travel and overnight stays as needed. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and adherence to engineering standards within major accident hazard environments.

You will work under the SC&I Technical Authority, applying practical maintenance planning, asset integrity, and risk management practices while contributing to safety improvements and change processes across

Qualifications

• Experience of S, C and I Engineering within the oil and gas or Major accident hazard environment.
• Skilled in application of functional assurance processes and knowledgeable in the application of business processes.
• Practical experience in the use, updating and planning with maintenance management systems.
• Hold or willing to attain COMPEX 12 certification.
• Hold or willing to obtain TUV Functional Safety Certification.
• Hold a minimum of HNC level qualification in S, C and I Engineering.
• A self starter, the job holder will operate with broad direction from the S, C and I Technical Authority.
• Able to apply HSE principles across technical activities associated with offshore and onshore (COMAH) environments.
• Must possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate their ability to foster wider relationships within Centrica and wider Oil and Gas industry.

Responsibilities

Overview To assist System, Control and Instrument Technical Authority in managing S,C and I Engineering across Centrica Gas Infrastructure assets including Safety, Operational, Financial, Environmental, Legal, Reputation and plant maintenance support Supports the S, C and I Technical Authority in developing discipline specific activities, managing discipline and operational risks, specific project and technical specifications, developing and managing technical contracts and verifications / audit of technical framework of discipline

Location – Woodland House, Hull – flexible working with a mix of office and home working.

Travel - This post will require travel to Centrica Gas Infrastructure Onshore and Offshore assets.

Key Accountabilities

• The core requirement of the role is to provide direct support to Centrica Gas Infrastructure assets. This will involve regular travel to onshore terminal and offshore assets and will also require overnight stays on offshore assets.in line operational priorities.
• Ensure technical integrity is maintained within discipline
• Ensure appropriate standards are maintained and applied to the operational assets as well as any projects to be enacted at the assets
• Ensure the optimum technical solution for modifications / projects are selected, aligning with strategy and ensuring solutions are designed to appropriate standards that meet operational and business requirements
• Support and participate in Health, Safety and Environment improvements initiatives to manage people, legislative and environmental risk.
• Provide technical input into operational risk management.
• Participate in root cause analysis to resolve safety and reliability issues.
• Will actively participate in Centrica Management of change process.
• Ensure enactment and compliance with Centrica S, C and I Engineering strategy and standards.
• Provide support and input to the S,C&I Technical Authority to ensure SECEs are identified and performance standards are fit for purpose to ensure major accident hazard risk is managed.
• Assist the S,C&I Technical Authority in monitoring test results of performance standards to ensure major accident risk is managed.
