Job summary

Centrica Gas Infrastructure in Hull seeks an experienced S&C&I Engineer to support the S&C&I Technical Authority across assets, managing discipline and operational risks while ensuring compliance with standards and COMAH requirements. The role involves regular travel to onshore terminals and offshore assets, contributing to safety, reliability and performance.

Hybrid working is available with a strong emphasis on health, safety and stakeholder collaboration within Centrica's energy transition

Qualifications

• Experience in S, C and I Engineering within oil and gas or major accident hazard environments.
• Practical knowledge of functional assurance processes and business processes.
• Experience with maintenance management systems and planning.
• Hold or willing to attain COMPEX 12 certification.
• Hold or willing to obtain TUV Functional Safety Certification.
• Minimum HNC level qualification in S, C and I Engineering.
• Self-starter with broad direction from the Technical Authority.
• Ability to apply HSE principles across offshore/onshore environments (COMAH).
• Excellent communication skills; able to build relationships within Centrica and the oil & gas industry.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to Centrica Gas Infrastructure assets with regular travel to onshore terminals and offshore assets.
• Maintain technical integrity within the discipline and ensure standards are applied to assets and projects.
• Support modifications/projects ensuring technical solutions meet operational and business requirements.
• Contribute to Health, Safety and Environment improvements and risk management initiatives.
• Participate in Centrica Management of Change process and ensure compliance with engineering strategy and standards.
• Provide input to ensure SECEs are identified and performance standards are fit for purpose.
• Monitor test results of performance standards to manage major accident risk.

Overview

To assist System, Control and Instrument Technical Authority in managing S,C and I Engineering across Centrica Gas Infrastructure assets including Safety, Operational, Financial, Environmental, Legal, Reputation and plant maintenance support • Supports the S, C and I Technical Authority in developing discipline specific activities, managing discipline and operational risks, specific project and technical specifications, developing and managing technical contracts and verifications / audit of technical framework of discipline

This post will require travel to Centrica Gas Infrastructure Onshore and Offshore assets

Key Accountabilities

• The core requirement of the role is to provide direct support to Centrica Gas Infrastructure assets. This will involve regular travel to onshore terminal and offshore assets and will also require overnight stays on offshore assets.in line operational priorities
• Ensure technical integrity is maintained within discipline
• Ensure appropriate standards are maintained and applied to the operational assets as well as any projects to be enacted at the assets
• Ensure the optimum technical solution for modifications / projects are selected, aligning with strategy and ensuring solutions are designed to appropriate standards that meet operational and business requirements
• Support and participate in Health, Safety and Environment improvements initiatives to manage people, legislative and environmental risk. Provide technical input into operational risk management. Participate in root cause analysis to resolve safety and reliability issues.
• Will actively participate in Centrica Management of change process.
• Ensure enactment and compliance with Centrica S, C and I Engineering strategy and standards.
• Provide support and input to the S,C&I Technical Authority to ensure SECEs are identified and performance standards are fit for purpose to ensure major accident hazard risk is managed.
• Assist the S,C&I Technical Authority in monitoring test results of performance standards to ensure major accident risk is managed

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

• Experience of S, C and I Engineering within the oil and gas or Major accident hazard environment
• Skilled in application of functional assurance processes and knowledgeable in the application of business processes
• Practical experience in the use, updating and planning with maintenance management systems
• Hold or willing to attain COMPEX 12 certification
• Hold or willing to obtain TUV Functional Safety Certification
• Hold a minimum of HNC level qualification in S, C and I Engineering
• A self starter, the job holder will operate with broad direction from the S, C and I Technical Authority
• Able to apply HSE principles across technical activities associated with offshore and onshore (COMAH) environments
• Must possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate their ability to foster wider relationships within Centrica and wider Oil and Gas industry
