Qualifications

Job description

Astute People’s Power Team is exclusively working with the South Clyde Energy Centre to recruit a full team of Operations & Maintenance staff. The plant, currently under construction, will process up to 350,000 tonnes of waste annually, generating power for approximately 70,000 homes. This new Power Station is scheduled to commence commercial operation by the end of 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to join during the plant's commissioning, training, and mobilisation phases.

We are seeking a Control & Instrumentation Technician to join the Maintenance Team at this new facility. The C&I Technician will be responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance across various critical plant systems.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Fault finding, installing, maintaining, and testing control equipment as directed by the C&I Engineer
  • Calibrations and loop checking of instruments
  • Maintaining the continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS)
  • Assisting in plant modifications and improvement work
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records using the site CMMS
  • Supervising and directing on-site contractors when required
  • Assisting in outage planning and coordination
  • Recommending plant spares to the C&I Engineer
  • Ensuring strict compliance with HSE standards
Professional Qualifications:
  • A recognized qualification in electrical/electronic engineering at Level 3 (C&G, ONC, NVQ, SVQ) or higher; other qualifications with extensive experience will also be considered
  • Ideally qualified with an IOSH or equivalent, with knowledge of workplace health & safety, including Safe Systems of Work, LOTO, Isolations, SOPs, RAMS
  • Recognized Control & Instrumentation / Automation Apprenticeship
Personal Skills:
  • At least years of maintenance experience with equipment including DCS & PLC systems, instrumentation (maintenance and calibration) such as flow, level, pressure
  • Knowledge of operation and maintenance of CEMS and environmental permits
  • Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment, ideally gained in Power Generation, Petrochemical, or Oil & Gas industries
  • Experience leading a team of technicians in maintenance practices
  • Experience in plant mobilisation and commissioning is desirable but not essential
