Job summary

GE Vernova Grid Solutions is seeking a Control Engineer in Stafford to define transformer control requirements, design and implement digital control systems for transformers, and interface with relays, tap-changers and SCADA/central control systems.

The role offers a hybrid work arrangement with 3 onsite days per week in Stafford and opportunities to contribute to the energy transition through innovative, safe, high-quality engineering.

Qualifications

  • Electrical, instrumentation, or controls engineering background or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Experience with WindChill or equivalent document management system.
  • Ability to work independently on control schematics and component specifications.
  • Demonstrate GE Vernova Way: Innovation, Customers, Lean, One team, Accountable.
  • Focus on Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare control schematics, specifications, general arrangement drawings, and cable schedules for transformer control cabinets and SCADA interfaces.
  • Select and specify components for ordering, review supplier drawings, and conduct Factory Acceptance Tests.
  • Track KPIs for on-time delivery, first time right, and budget adherence.
  • Work with Low Voltage Switchgear schematics and related Automation.
  • PLC programming/automation software experience preferred.
  • HMI programming experience preferred.
  • Lead communication with customers, suppliers and internal teams.

As a Control Engineer, you will be responsible for define Transformer Control requirement, design, implementation, and development of digital control system of the Transformer.

This position provides a hybrid work place option (3 days per week onsite in Stafford required)

Job Description
Job Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of control schematics, specifications, general arrangement drawings, cable schedules for control cabinets (marshalling kiosk) of power transformers, including interfacing with relays, tap-changers and other transformer components and SCADA / central control system.

  • Selection and specification of components for ordering and manufacturing, review of supplier drawings, carrying out Factory Acceptance Tests.

  • Key Performance Indicators of on-time delivery, right first time and budget adherence.

  • Experience in Low Voltage Switchgear schematics and related Automation.

  • Experience of PLC programming / automation software will be preferred

  • Experience of HMI programming will be preferred

  • Leading communication / co-ordination with internal and external stakeholders (customers, suppliers, other departments such as projects, tendering, manufacturing, quality, procurement, etc).

Education And Experience:
  • Electrical or Instrumentation or Controls engineer or person with similar equivalent experience.

  • Experience of working on Autocad Electrical.

  • Experience of Document management system (WindChill / equivalent).

  • Should have worked independently on control schematics and component specifications.

  • Shall be able to demonstrate GE Vernova Way (Innovation, Customers, Lean, One team, Accountable).

  • Shall demonstrate focus on Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
