Job Purpose

Provide the business with contracting expertise, support, and coordination for contracted services activities daily.

Job Description
  1. Handle commercial and contractual aspects of tendering, negotiating, awarding, and managing all contracts and major purchase orders. Interface with department managers, project managers, and project engineers to develop scopes.
  2. Maintain effective compliance to BMS in accordance with company procedures and systems, including risk and opportunity sensitivities.
  3. Arrange all project bonds, guarantees, and insurances as required.
  4. Provide commercial and contractual advice to department managers and Project Management Teams (PMT).
  5. Coordinate with project managers and engineers for negotiation and execution of all Variation Orders (VO) with contractors.
  6. Highlight major commercial or contractual risks or issues to relevant managers and work with them to ensure optimal solutions.
  7. Manage project close-out activities, ensuring signature of acceptance, performance feedback, and monitoring of bonds/warranties.
  8. Assist contracts team lead in identifying and implementing business improvements.
  9. Review and update Procurement Register weekly.
  10. Coordinate and deliver department initiatives, such as systems, procedures, and lessons learned.
  11. Responsible for tendering, negotiation, and administration of allocated Frame Agreements.
  12. Analyze commodity spend information, including market analysis, and develop sourcing strategies.
  13. Prepare and expedite signature of internal approval documents, e.g., Contract Commitment Request.
  14. Ensure contractor adherence to contract and project administration procedures.
  15. Attend weekly/monthly meetings as required.
  16. Manage claims.
  17. Assist project managers in contractual matters during project duration.
  18. Assist the contract holder with supplier management activities, including performance reviews.
  19. Attend vessel dry dockings to manage key supplier variations.
  20. Perform any other duties as required by the contracts team lead.

Essential
  • Educated to degree level in an appropriate discipline or have Supply Chain education (formal CIPS or equivalent experience).
  • Awareness of a commercial environment.
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain processes.
Nice to have
  • Professional or degree-level qualification in a quantity surveying, business, or legal discipline.
  • Proven experience in a subcontract environment.
  • Previous experience with marine and vessel projects.
Skills
  • Effective communication with professional and technical personnel at all levels.
