Job description

We are currently seeking an experienced contracts manager to join our team, overseeing and managing a range of construction projects across multiple locations. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience with a strong background in construction and a broad understanding of various disciplines within the industry.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Full UK driving licence (essential)
• SMSTS training (preferred)
• Experience in running multiple projects is essential
• Well organized and confident to be self-sufficient in their duties
• Excellent communication skills with trades and clients, maintaining professionalism
• Environmental awareness when working in schools
• Knowledge of construction methods for effective programming
• Understanding of costs and budgets to ensure project profitability
• No criminal record, as required for working in educational settings (DBS clearance)
• Enthusiastic and committed to supporting and growing the business

Responsibilities:

• Project Handover and Planning: Receive project details from the estimating team, review documentation, set budgets, and conduct site inspections during the quotation phase. Prepare detailed work programmes and survey new enquiries for small works due to business size.
• Labour Coordination: Allocate skilled labour, communicate effectively with the workforce, order materials, and liaise with clients and main contractors to confirm timelines and expectations. Build strong relationships with clients.
• Health & Safety Compliance: Coordinate with the HSE Coordinator to ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Site Management: Conduct site inductions, monitor progress, address issues, and ensure projects meet quality, safety, and timeline standards.
• Completion & Handover: Final inspections, snagging, defect rectification, and sign-off with clients and contractors.
