Contracts Manager – Building and Fabric | Basildon | Full Time - Office based

8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday | £55,000 - £65,000 DOE (Including bonus and car allowance)

Our client is a multi-disciplinary company with extensive and proven experience in providing a wide range of services for the internal and external fabric of commercial buildings.

From planned and reactive maintenance and remedial works to full building refurbishments, they operate within many prestigious buildings throughout London and the Home Counties. Their client-focused culture ensures that they handle projects of all sizes, with minimal disruption to operations.

They are seeking an experienced and results-oriented Contracts Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in Building Fabric Maintenance and Renovations, overseeing and managing the entire lifecycle of high volume, low value projects, and ensuring that they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget. The Contracts Manager will lead cross-functional teams, coordinate resources, and communicate effectively with stakeholders to achieve project success.

Are you the right person for the job?
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience, with a proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Asana, Trello)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with budgeting, risk management, and resource allocation
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. High level of professionalism and a positive, proactive attitude
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field. PMP, Agile, or other relevant certifications are a plus
What will your role look like?
  • Survey client requirements and provide detailed, costed proposals
  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation
  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Establish clear project goals and priorities, ensuring alignment with company objectives
  • Coordinate with teams to schedule project milestones and ensure timely completion
  • Lead cross-functional teams, providing direction and support to ensure high performance
  • Facilitate regular team meetings to monitor project progress, resolve issues, and ensure alignment
  • Manage project resources effectively, ensuring that the right skills and expertise are applied to tasks
  • Create and communicate Risk Assessments and Method Statements
  • Ensure suitably competent and qualified staff are always utilised
  • Identify potential risks and issues that may impact project success
  • Develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address risks and obstacles
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders, including clients, team members, and senior management
  • Provide regular updates on project status, including progress, risks, and resource requirements
  • Prepare and present project reports and documentation to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and clarity
  • Create and manage project budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and staying within financial constraints
  • Track project expenses and adjust resources or timelines to avoid cost overruns
  • Allocate and manage resources, ensuring team members have the necessary tools and support
  • Ensure that project deliverables meet quality standards and client expectations
  • Conduct project reviews and evaluate outcomes to ensure success criteria are met
  • Implement processes for quality control, ensuring projects are completed without defects
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring their needs are understood and addressed
  • Manage client expectations, ensuring that projects align with their requirements and vision
  • Negotiate and manage any changes to project scope, timeline, or budget with stakeholders
  • Conduct post-project evaluations to assess project performance, lessons learned, and areas for improvement
  • Document best practices and knowledge gained during the project lifecycle for future reference
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement in project management processes
