Job summary

Talent Link, a civil engineering contractor, seeks an experienced Contracts Manager in the United Kingdom. The role requires oversight of plan, programme, cost control, and stakeholder engagement across multi-disciplinary civil/water projects.

You will manage design resources, monitor CVRs, understand NEC contracts, and ensure HS&E compliance while building strong client relationships and leading project meetings.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience managing projects within a civil or water environment.
  • Good working knowledge of CDM regulations, Design Management, Programme & Risk Management, and cost control.
  • Knowledge of NEC contract including Early Warning and Compensation Event mechanisms
  • HNC, HND, or Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent
  • SMSTS and CSCS card
  • Experience in pre-qualification and tendering for multi-disciplinary projects
  • Excellent people management, influencing, and mentoring skills
  • Proficiency in MS Project; P6 an advantage

Responsibilities

  • Plan and programme projects in detail for site teams to deliver without delays
  • Monitor resources, challenge overspend, and identify efficiencies to improve programme and margin
  • Maintain commercial plans and end-of-life forecasts and monitor monthly
  • Review CVRs monthly with project teams and implement actions
  • Review cost plans, identify risks and opportunities
  • Engage subcontractors and ensure compliance with commercial policies
  • Produce and analyse progress reports, updated costs and forecasts
  • Manage design resources to meet project requirements
  • Coordinate with Operations Manager to align direct workforce with programme
  • Lead HS&E leadership and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Liaise with third parties to meet HAUC, NRSWA, Chapter 8 standards
  • Ensure ITPs and QA Files are produced and maintained
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, chairing meetings

Job description

An established civil engineering and infrastructure contractor is looking for an experienced Contracts Manager to join their team.


Responsibilities of Contracts Manager:


  • Ensure projects are planned and programmed to the level of detail required for site teams to deliver without delays

  • Monitor project resources, challenge overspend, and identify efficiencies to improve programme and margin

  • Ensure commercial plans and end-of-life forecasts are in place and monitored monthly

  • Review CVRs monthly with project teams and implement necessary actions

  • Review and challenge project teams on Cost Plans, identifying risks and opportunities

  • Ensure correct commercial engagement of subcontractors and compliance with commercial policies

  • Produce and analyse progress reports, updated costs, and forecasts

  • Manage both temporary and permanent design to meet project requirements

  • Work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure direct workforce is allocated in line with programme

  • Set the highest standards of HS&E leadership, ensuring compliance with procedures and legal obligations

  • Liaise with third parties to ensure compliance with HAUC, NRSWA, Chapter 8, and other regulatory standards

  • Ensure ITPs and QA Files are produced and maintained, promoting best practice throughout

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, chairing and leading customer meetings


Essential Requirements for Contracts Manager:
