Contracts Manager - Water Infrastructure Projects
Location: East Midlands (with travel)

Barker Ross is working with a leading Civil Engineering contractor, known for delivering high-quality work across the UK water sector. Due to ongoing success and project wins, they are looking to bring in a Contracts Manager to oversee a range of clean and wastewater infrastructure schemes - including pipelines and pumping stations.

This role is key to ensuring projects run smoothly, stay compliant, and deliver on time and on budget.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure all projects comply with relevant legal, safety, and environmental standards.
• Oversee quality control, project programmes, and contractor performance.
• Lead contract administration, including document control, change management, and dispute resolution.
• Manage both external and internal stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and in-house teams.
• Lead and support site teams, from recruitment through to training and performance management.
• Monitor budgets and costs, working closely with commercial and project managers.
• Evaluate performance and implement improvements across contract management practices.
• Provide technical and buildability advice where needed.

About You:

• Strong leadership and organisational skills with the ability to take ownership of multiple projects.
• Solid experience in the water sector, delivering civil infrastructure works.
• Comfortable working under NEC3 contracts.
• Skilled in MS Office, Project (or similar), and CAD (preferred).
• Holds a full UK driving licence and relevant industry certifications.

Requirements:

• Degree in Civil Engineering or similar, with 5+ years' site-based experience - or 15+ years' proven industry experience.
• Experience managing HSEQ aspects of large civil engineering schemes.
• Strong commercial awareness and communication skills.
