Job summary

A well-established main contractor based in Stevenage is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to lead the delivery of refurbishment, fit-out, industrial, commercial and education projects across the South East. You will oversee programmes, quality, health & safety and commercial performance, working with site teams, clients and subcontractors.

The ideal candidate will manage multiple projects, drive milestones, maintain strong relationships, and ensure handover on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Contracts Manager with a main contractor.
• Strong background in refurbishment, fit-out, industrial, commercial or education sectors.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Solid knowledge of construction processes, programmes and contract management.
• Excellent client and subcontractor management skills.
• Strong commercial awareness.
• Good understanding of health, safety and quality requirements.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to lead project teams to successful completion.
• Proactive and commercially minded approach.

Responsibilities

• Managing multiple projects from pre-construction through to completion
• Overall responsibility for programme, quality, health & safety and commercial performance
• Managing and supporting Project Managers and site teams
• Reviewing project programmes and ensuring key milestones are achievedManaging client and consultant relationships
• Overseeing subcontractors and supply chain performance
• Attending progress meetings and providing regular project updates
• Monitoring project costs and working closely with the commercial team
• Managing variations, contractual issues and potential risks
• Ensuring projects are delivered to the required quality standards

• Identifying and managing project risks and opportunities

A well-established and rapidly growing main contractor based in Stevenage is looking to appoint an experienced Contracts Manager to join their operational team.

The company delivers a range of refurbishment, fit-out, industrial, commercial and education projects across the South East, with a growing order book and strong pipeline of work.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Contracts Manager looking to join a progressive contractor and take responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple projects from pre-construction through to completion.

The Role

As Contracts Manager, you will oversee the successful delivery of projects, working closely with Site Managers, Quantity Surveyors, clients, consultants and subcontractors.

The Position

• Previous experience as a Contracts Manager with a main contractor
• Strong experience within refurbishment, fit-out, commercial, industrial or education projects
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, programmes and contract management
• Excellent client and subcontractor management skills
• Strong commercial awareness
• Good understanding of health & safety and quality requirements
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• The ability to lead project teams and drive projects through to successful completion
• A proactive and commercially minded approach
