Job summary

Veolia in Portsmouth is seeking a time-served Facilities Manager to deliver comprehensive FM services for our Aerospace and Defence client. You will lead the site team, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with statutory and contractual requirements.

This role offers 40 hours per week, a competitive package with a 15% bonus and car/car allowance, 25 days leave, pension, and ongoing training. You should hold an HND/NVQ in a hard services trade and have strong people leadership and cost-control

Qualifications

• Time-served professional with a demonstrable work history in building services.
• HND or NVQ equivalent in electrical, mechanical or HVAC.
• Experience in a management role leading a team and HR across people management.
• Experience with budget control and P&L management and cost/margin targets.
• Ability to develop local policies aligned with group and statutory best practice.

Responsibilities

• Deliver effective FM services (soft: cleaning, waste, mailroom; hard: M&E, building fabric, minor works) per contract and statutory requirements.
• Manage contract performance and day-to-day client liaison and KPI delivery.
• Lead and develop a site-based team of managers, engineers, cleaners and operatives.
• Implement and manage a permit-to-work system and compile a SSoW.
• Schedule and ensure maintenance activities are completed on time per specs and SLA.
• Communicate effectively with clients, vendors and team members.
• Prepare reports and recommendations for the client.
• Identify opportunities for improvements and new best practices.

What you'll be doing:

• Deliver effective FM services on behalf of our Aerospace and Defence client - Including soft services (cleaning, waste and mailroom) and hard services (M&E, building fabric and minor works) to fully meet both contractual and statutory requirements.
• Manage commercial and technical contract performance, including day-to-day client liaison and KPI delivery.
• Lead and develop a site-based team of management, engineers, cleaners and operatives
• Responsibility for implementation and management of a permit to work system and compilation of producing a SSoW.
• Ensure operational, planned, and reactive maintenance activities are effectively scheduled and undertaken on time and in accordance with Statutory Legislation, appropriate maintenance specification and agreed SLA response times.
• Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and team members.
• Compilation and presentation of reports and recommendations.
• Actively share with the client opportunities for improvements and new best practices.

What we're looking for:

• A time served professional with a demonstrable work history within the building services sector
• HND or NVQ equivalent in an associated hard services trade (electrical / mechanical / HVAC)
• Previous experience in a management role as the team lead with good HR experience across all aspects of people management
• Experience with budget control and expenditure with a proven track record of P&L management, effective cost management and margin achievement
• Able to compile local policies and procedures whilst demonstrating alignment with group and statutory best practice.
• Has a culture of cooperation, collaboration, and teamwork across the operation and ensures a smooth and positive interface with relevant stakeholders.
• Must be eligible and able to attain Security Clearance for the position
