Job description

MSS Group, part of the RSK Group, has an exciting opportunity for a Contracts Manager. The role is based on site at Brize Norton, Oxfordshire, UK, with occasional visits to our head office in Cardiff.

Please note this role requires the successful candidate to undergo security clearance checks.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage labour, plant, transport, and equipment on site, ensuring all operations are safe, legal, and aligned with the project plan.
  2. Direct teams, monitor labour allocation, and ensure proper tools and equipment are used.
  3. Ensure health and safety standards for all personnel and environmental compliance.
  4. Manage relationships with colleagues, customers, suppliers, and stakeholders. Produce delivery programmes and liaise with planners to ensure NEC/Contract compliance.
  5. Uphold our values of Dedication, Adaptability, Efficiency, and Integrity.
  6. Promote cultural standards of behaviour including safety, fairness, respect, sustainability, and success nurturing. Conduct performance reviews and disciplinary actions.
  7. Travel as required; carry out quality and safety inspections.
  8. Onboard and manage subcontractors and labour.
  9. Motivate teams.
Skills & Experience
  • Experience in the construction industry on long-term projects.
  • PRINCE2 qualification or similar.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of NEC 3 & 4 Contracts, including notifications and programming support.
  • Set health and safety standards.
  • Experience leading site teams.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation, CDM, and industry standards.
  • Computer literacy with MS Office.
  • Problem-solving skills and target-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to manage teams and tasks according to project plans.
  • Willingness to undertake training and produce project RAMS.
  • Ability to read drawings and schedule materials for procurement.
Qualifications
Mandatory
  • CSCS card
  • NVQ Level 6 or 7
  • Full UK driving license
  • First aid certification

  • NEBOSH Construction Health & Safety Management
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • Temporary Works Coordinator
