Overview

Contracts Manager – Aberdeenshire – Full-Time | Permanent

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Contracts Manager to join a well-established civil engineering and multi-utilities contractor. This role offers the chance to oversee multiple projects from pre-construction through to completion, playing a key leadership role in the successful delivery of contracts across Aberdeenshire and the wider region.

The Role

As Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management and delivery of multiple civil engineering projects, ensuring that works are completed safely, efficiently, and profitably. You will lead project planning, coordinate resources, and act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams. Your focus will be on ensuring projects meet quality, budget, and programme requirements while maintaining a positive health and safety culture.

Responsibilities
  • Managing and overseeing the delivery of multiple civil engineering contracts
  • Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, specifications, and HSEQ regulations
  • Leading project planning, programming, and coordination of labour, subcontractors, plant, and materials
  • Monitoring project progress, financial performance, and risk management
  • Resolving project issues proactively to maintain timelines and profitability
  • Supporting tender reviews, contract negotiation, and development of project delivery strategies
  • Fostering a positive safety culture and upholding company standards on all projects
  • Supporting, coaching, and developing site teams to achieve high performance and morale
  • Monitoring staff performance and undertaking appraisals
  • Agreeing and delivering on KPIs and annual targets
About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience as a Contracts Manager or senior project management role within civil engineering and/or multi-utilities
  • Strong track record in successfully delivering complex civil engineering projects
  • Sound understanding of NEC and other standard forms of contract
  • Commercially astute with excellent financial and contractual awareness
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, planning processes, and HSEQ regulations
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and self-motivation
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office packages
  • Full UK driving licence & right to work in the UK (sponsorship not available)
  • Technical qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (beneficial but not essential)
