Job Description

WSP is a leading professional services firm providing strategic advisory, engineering, and design services globally. We are recruiting an experienced solicitor to support our growth in environmental services, including mining and earth-related sectors. The role involves working closely with the Earth and Environment teams to manage legal and commercial risks associated with these sectors, focusing on engineering consultancy contracts, complex procurement, and joint ventures.

Responsibilities include:

• Supporting the growth of the Earth and Environment business lines while embedding risk management and compliance culture.
• Reviewing and negotiating contractual documents such as consultancy agreements, project contracts, joint venture agreements, and others.
• Carrying out legal reviews to minimize impact on WSP’s working capital and facilitate timely contract negotiations.
• Ensuring corporate governance in contract review and approval processes.
• Providing legal advice on tenders, bid documentation, and contract delivery to maximize revenue and minimize risks.
• Liaising with internal teams and external parties including clients, sub-consultants, and legal colleagues.
• Keeping the business updated on relevant legal developments and delivering legal training as needed.
• Contributing to legal knowledge sharing within the team and organization.

Candidate Profile:

• Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with relevant post-qualification experience in the engineering/construction sector.
• Experience in complex contracts, joint ventures, and in-house roles at engineering consultancies or contractors is preferable.
• Strong communication skills, ability to work independently, and collaborative mindset.
• Educated to degree level or equivalent.
• Proactive, able to prioritize, and work under pressure.
