Job summary

Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Northumbria is seeking a Contracts and Grants Officer to work two days per week, overseeing the contract delivery of a specialist Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) service across Northumbria, Durham and Cleveland.

You will manage contract performance, quality assurance, monitoring and reporting, while building strong partnerships with providers, Cafcass, local authorities and other key stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience in commissioning, procurement, contracting and performance management within Criminal Justice or similar complexity.
• Understanding of domestic abuse and/or family law policy and government direction.
• Strong partnership working and multi-agency engagement experience.
• Project management experience with ability to prioritise and deliver within deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to analyse complex information and present clear reports for senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Salary: £41,028 to £44,700 per annum (pro rata £16,411 to £17,880 based on 14.8 hours per week)
Contract Type: Fixed Term until 31 March 2028
Working Hours: Part-time, 14.8 hours per week (2 days per week)
Location: Victory House, Balliol Business Park, or such other location as directed by the Police and Crime Commissioner

The Role

Join the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Northumbria as a Contracts and Grants Officer, working two days per week. This exciting regional role will oversee the contract delivery of a specialist Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) service supporting domestic abuse victim-survivors within the Child Focused Courts model across Northumbria, Durham and Cleveland.

You will manage contract performance, quality assurance, monitoring and reporting, while building strong partnerships with providers, Cafcass, local authorities and other key stakeholders. The role requires excellent communication, relationship-building and organisational skills, alongside a commitment to improving outcomes for children and families affected by domestic abuse.

Regular regional travel will be required. Fixed-term until 31 March 2028.

What do I need?

• Strong knowledge of commissioning, procurement, contracting and performance management either within the Criminal Justice or a sector of comparable complexity.
• A working knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse and/or family law policy and government direction.
• Excellent partnership working skills and experience of engagement in a multi-agency environment.
• Experience of project management, with excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands, manage multiple tasks, and deliver work within agreed timescales and deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to analyse complex information and data, producing clear, accurate, and insightful reports and presentations for a range of audiences, including senior stakeholders

Applicants must be a resident of the UK for a minimum period of 3 years to ensure vetting checks can be successfully performed. A job offer will be dependent upon vetting clearance, medical information and references.
