Job Summary

A highly skilled and experienced Contracts & Operations Manager with relevant experience in EWI or Retrofit industry, to oversee and ensure the successful delivery of our energy efficiency projects. This role is essential for maintaining high performance across the business in areas such as Health and Safety, project delivery, quality assurance, and adherence to PAS standards.

Job Summary

A highly skilled and experienced Contracts & Operations Manager with relevant experience in EWI or Retrofit industry, to oversee and ensure the successful delivery of our energy efficiency projects. This role is essential for maintaining high performance across the business in areas such as Health and Safety, project delivery, quality assurance, and adherence to PAS standards.

The successful candidate will lead a team, manage multiple contractors, and contribute to the development of operational staff, all while fostering positive relationships with clients to ensure repeat business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering Quality Energy Efficiency Measures: Oversee the delivery of energy efficiency measures across residential and commercial properties in the UK, ensuring that projects are completed on time and to the highest standard.
  • Managing Contractors: Supervise between 30-80 contractors daily, ensuring that they deliver work in line with the company's high standards.
  • Client Relationship Management: Maintain strong relationships with clients and their representatives, ensuring customer satisfaction and repeat business opportunities.
  • Operational Team Management: Manage the SMS operational team to meet company targets, particularly in areas of health and safety compliance and profitability.
  • Supply Chain Development: Support the development of a high-performing supply chain and supplier network.
  • Project Programmes: Assist in the creation and monitoring of project schedules, ensuring timely updates and on-time delivery of all projects.
  • Contractual Compliance: Collaborate with the Commercial Manager to ensure all contractual notifications are submitted in line with contract requirements.
  • Policy and Process Communication: Develop and communicate policies, processes, and best practices across the operational team.
  • Staff Development: Ensure that the operational team is adequately trained and holds the necessary qualifications to fulfill their roles and meet legal requirements.
  • PAS Requirements Compliance: Ensure all work is completed in line with PAS requirements and all required documentation is submitted for timely payments.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all work is completed within budget, to the highest standard, and on time.
  • KPI Management: Ensure all sites and teams meet contractual processes and KPIs.
  • ISO 9001 Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies and filing mechanisms to maintain ISO 9001 certification.
  • Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with all health and safety standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Site Inspections: Conduct regular site inspections and document findings.
  • Incident Management: Ensure timely reporting, investigation, and closure of incidents.
  • Toolbox Talks: Deliver scheduled toolbox talks to ensure continuous staff education on health and safety.
  • Permit to Work Systems: Oversee a robust Permit to Work system for all contractors on SMS sites.
  • Accident Reduction: Proactively manage and reduce workplace accidents, striving for a zero-harm outcome.
  • Training and Competency: Ensure contractors are adequately trained, competent, and working within RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements).
  • Customer Engagement: Ensure smooth customer journeys with clear communication and positive engagement with residents.
  • Complaint Management: Address any customer complaints quickly and professionally, ensuring a high standard of service.
  • Team Development: Develop individual team members to help them grow into key contributors within a high-functioning team.

KEY ATTRIBUTES

Essential

Qualifications & Certifications

  • A relevant degree or equivalent experience in Construction Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Health and Safety qualifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH.
  • Experience in delivering energy efficiency measures including EWI, Boiler Upgrades, PV, Loft & CWI, Glazing, Roof Replacements, and Asbestos Management.
  • Experience managing contracts and operations in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable

  • Project Management qualifications (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).
  • ISO 9001 Auditor or similar quality assurance certification.
  • Relevant certifications in PAS standards and compliance.

Interpersonal skills

  • Proven leadership ability to manage, motivate, and develop teams to achieve performance goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with internal teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to quickly address issues on site and within teams.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients to foster repeat business and customer loyalty.
  • A collaborative team player who is able to work effectively with various departments within the business.

Technical Knowledge

  • In-depth understanding and experience in delivering energy efficiency measures, including External Wall Insulation (EWI), Boiler Upgrades, Photovoltaic (PV) systems, Loft and Cavity Wall Insulation (CWI), Glazing, Roof Replacements, Roofline Works, Access Management, and Asbestos Removal.
  • Sound knowledge of current health and safety regulations and their implementation on site, including RAMS, risk assessments, and the Permit to Work system.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and experience maintaining certification in a construction or operational setting.
  • Experience with managing contracts, ensuring all contractual requirements are met, and dealing with notifications and documentation for timely payments.
