Job description

Overview

First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic business that is looking to recruit a Contractors Engineering Manager on a permanent basis due to growth, based in Belfast. The candidate can be located anywhere in the UK but will need to travel to Belfast occasionally.

The main purpose of this position is to provide a formal link for the Translink project to facilitate discussions and dissemination of Technical and Engineering issues.

Responsibilities:

  1. Support the Programme Engineering Manager and provide guidance on all technical issues related to assigned projects.
  2. Liaise with client representatives, Translink Project Team, Programme Engineering Manager, other CEMs, and Rail’s Professional Heads on technical matters.
  3. Conduct technical instructions and briefings for responsible projects.
  4. Mentor and instruct technical staff in proper methods of their duties.
  5. Monitor technical compliance on contracted works, ensuring documentation such as Asset Management Plans (AMP) is correctly completed, accurate, and delivered on time.
  6. Assist in delivering compliance with safety legislation.
  7. Ensure all technical work complies with standards and contractual specifications.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Professionally qualified in an appropriate discipline.
  • Proven experience in project and engineering management.
  • Chartered Engineer (preferred).
  • Degree-level education (preferred).
  • Knowledge of railway structures and safety matters.
  • Understanding of utilities, construction, and contracting.
  • Focus on best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of company strategies, practices, and systems.
  • Ability to make important decisions and manage team operations.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
