Contract Manager (Commercial & Risk)

Location: UK (Hybrid/Flexible) Salary: Up to £55,000 depending on experience

Benefits: Bonus, pension, holiday, and many more

Drive Commercial Value. Strengthen Supplier Performance. Mitigate Risk.

We're looking for an experienced Contract Manager (Commercial & Risk) to join our Supply Chain team and play a pivotal role in shaping the performance, governance, and commercial success of our contractor network.

This is far more than a traditional contract management role. Sitting at the intersection of commercial management, supplier governance, performance improvement, and risk control, you'll take ownership of a portfolio of preferred contractors, ensuring they deliver exceptional value, compliance, and operational performance across the business.

Working closely with senior stakeholders, you'll influence supply chain strategy, drive commercial efficiencies, and help create a high-performing contractor network that supports long-term business growth.

What You'll Be Doing

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Performance & Cost Control

  • Drive commercial performance across contractor spend and supplier agreements.
  • Support rate card governance to ensure competitive and market-aligned pricing.
  • Identify and deliver cost-saving initiatives, rebates, and value engineering opportunities.
  • Support commercial negotiations, tendering activities, and supplier re-commercialisation projects.
  • Ensure contractor costs align with contract profitability and business objectives.
  • Secure improved commercial terms and measurable value outcomes through effective supplier negotiations.

Risk, Compliance & Governance

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial, operational, and compliance risks across the supply chain.
  • Lead contractor risk reviews and implement effective mitigation plans.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with contractual obligations, HSQE standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the escalation point for high-risk supplier issues and performance failures.
  • Support bids and procurement exercises while maintaining adherence to supply chain governance processes.

Contractor Performance Management

  • Develop and maintain robust contractor governance frameworks.
  • Drive supplier performance through KPIs, SLAs, and structured review processes.
  • Ensure contracts remain commercially robust, regularly reviewed, and aligned to operational requirements.
  • Monitor contract performance and ensure contractual obligations are delivered effectively.

Supply Chain Strategy

  • Support the development and delivery of subcontractor and supplier strategies.
  • Contribute to supplier tiering, rationalisation, and network optimisation initiatives.
  • Ensure contractor capability, capacity, and geographical coverage meet evolving business needs.
  • Support wider supply chain transformation and continuous improvement programmes.
  • Influence senior stakeholders to drive strategic supply chain outcomes.

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with key contractors and suppliers.
  • Lead supplier governance meetings, business reviews, and performance forums.
  • Drive continuous improvement, innovation, efficiency, and service excellence across the contractor base.
  • Ensure actions, outcomes, and escalation processes are effectively managed and communicated.
What We're Looking For

About You

We're looking for a commercially minded professional who combines strong supplier management experience with a proactive approach to governance, performance, and risk management.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience within contractor, supplier, or supply chain management.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including pricing, negotiation, and cost control.
  • Experience managing contract risk, compliance, and governance frameworks.
  • Ability to analyse data and turn insights into measurable business value.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to engage both internal and external stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Experience managing and benchmarking rate cards.
  • Background in procurement, commercial, or category management.
  • Knowledge of HSQE requirements within outsourced service environments.
  • Understanding of quality management systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience within Facilities Management (FM) or a related outsourced services environment.

What You'll Bring

You will be someone who:

  • Puts safety and wellbeing at the heart of decision-making.
  • Builds strong and respectful relationships with colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Takes a commercially balanced approach that drives profitability and value.
  • Focuses on delivering exceptional service and continuous improvement.
Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to take ownership of a strategically important area of the business, with the chance to influence supplier strategy, deliver commercial value, and strengthen supply chain performance at scale.
