Our vision is to be at the heart of a clean, fair and affordable energy future and we are doing this in a fast-moving industry with an increasing focus on tackling climate change, exploring new energy sources that are renewable, low carbon, and improve efficiency to meet demand.

Job Introduction

At National Grid, we hold ourselves to the highest standards, not only in our work but also in how we support, value and nurture our team. Our commitment is to empower every individual to seize control and shape their career, with unwavering support throughout their journey.

A permanent opportunity for a Contract Works Assessor has become available at National Grid Electricity Distribution in the East Midlands, a FTSE 20 company at the heart of the country's journey to Net Zero. You will be conducting a wide range of inspections including dig & lay, overhead lines, tree work and civil activities.

This role is crucial in ensuring a safe, efficient, and affordable network for our customers by minimizing avoidable variations in the original work instruction.

If you are offered a position, you will be required to successfully complete a basic DBS check that shows any unspent convictions or conditional cautions.

Main responsibilities

This role involves ensuring that work carried out by our contractor partners is of the highest standard and fully aligns with the initial work instruction and invoicing. You will work independently to perform network inspections, providing detailed feedback to your Team Manager.

The ideal candidate will prioritize health and safety, understanding that safety is everyone's responsibility and that we operate a world-class Safe to Say culture.

You should have a good understanding of, or the ability to quickly learn, the NGED contracts, policies, standard techniques, and assets and work activities.

Strong communication skills are essential for building relationships with contractors and local authorities.

Holding a NRSWA qualification or understanding of NRSWA legislation is desirable, but full training can be provided.

A valid driving license is essential as the role requires mobility.
