Job summary

Spectrum IT Recruitment is seeking a hands-on Contract Systems Test Engineer to join a Poole-based technology business. The role is an initial 6-month contract, outside IR35, onsite due to hardware testing requirements with some remote work.

The role covers bench hardware testing, software integration and end-to-end system validation across embedded devices, back‑office platforms and cloud/on‑prem environments.

Qualifications

• Hands-on contract Systems Test Engineer with hardware and software integration focus.
• Experience testing embedded systems, hardware devices and back‑office software.
• Knowledge of Windows environments, networking and related protocols.

Responsibilities

• Set up, configure and maintain test environments and hardware devices.
• Develop test plans, scenarios and detailed test cases.
• Conduct manual and end-to-end testing across embedded, hardware and software components.
• Test integrated hardware and software solutions across on-prem and cloud environments.
• Execute tests on ticketing/payment/validation equipment and handheld devices.
• Document defects, coordinate with engineering, and report test outcomes.
