Job summary

McLaren Accelerator is seeking a Structures Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team on a fixed-term contract in the United Kingdom. You will apply structural analysis, simulation and engineering expertise to solve complex challenges for our partners, collaborating with engineers, consultants and project managers to translate engineering excellence into practical, high-value solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil, Structural or related STEM field or equivalent experience.
• Strong understanding of structural mechanics, strength of materials, fatigue, buckling and failure.
• Experience applying FEA to composite structures in a high-performance environment.
• Experience with laminate behaviour, failure modes and structural performance.
• Experience with Altair HyperWorks/OptiStruct, Abaqus, Ansys Mechanical or Nastran.
• Solid understanding of meshing, loads, boundary conditions and results interpretation.
• Experience with optimisation for weight, stiffness and performance.
• Ability to create/modify CAD geometry for analysis and development.
• Ability to manage analysis work packages from concept to delivery.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Proven track record delivering projects on time.

Responsibilities

• Deliver structural analysis activities for accelerator projects.
• Develop analysis methodologies to solve engineering challenges.
• Create analysis-ready CAD geometry and finite element models.
• Plan and interpret finite element analyses with actionable guidance.
• Champion best practices in analysis tools and workflows.
• Apply knowledge of materials and composites to support decisions.
• Collaborate across engineering, consulting and programmes teams.
• Support scoping, proposals and technical bid activities.
• Coordinate with suppliers, partners and customers for delivery.
• Share knowledge and drive capability development across teams.
• Contribute to High-Performance Programmes within partner environments.
