At Honda we embrace inclusion in our various policies, so whilst our contracts state that the hours are as required to fulfil the role with a minimum of 35 hours per week, we offer flexibility for when you work. The regular office hours are 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday with a half hour lunch break & 08:00 – 13:00 on a Friday. However, we offer flexibility of when you work with our daily flex-time start of between 07:00 and 11:00 providing that there is no business requirement.
Whilst there is no contractual right to work from home, the flexibility we offer is that you can request to work from home 2 days per week, again providing there is no business requirement to attend the office.
Role:
This is a unique opportunity to gain experience in implementing a critical project to deliver next generation connected services (Global Connect 5.0 / GC5.0) to the European market, which will be launched as part of our new flagship BEV models referred to as “0 Series”. We need a commercially astute business manager with experience of managing projects, involvement in tenders, strong communication and presentation skills, and ideally direct experience of connected services and automotive for this important role.
The role holder will be required to take ownership of several sub-projects critical in preparing 0 Series launch at the end of 2026 :
• e-MSP project to deliver “plug and charge” and other capabilities
• Market expansion of connected services to Distributors & Turkey
• GC5.0 Branch communication
• GC5.0 testing
• Others
The ideal candidate will need to have a “can do” attitude to ensure program milestones are achieved and will need to be involved in a range of activities, from vehicle testing to discussing revising distributor contracts with Honda Motor in Japan.
A strong team player is required to collaborate with ISD (IT systems), Customer Division (Aftersales), Honda Motor, and the Branch offices representing Honda in each market in Europe.
The role holder will need to blend their skills in project management, sales/business development, product management, into a cohesive strategy that can deliver Honda’s ambitious targets in this area.
Main Responsibilities:
Distributor Project
• Take a lead role to prepare for GC5.0 for distributor markets, working closely with HME Distributor team, and the distributors themselves:
- Feature list / scope confirmation for each market
- Distributor contract adjustment
- Distributor customer 1st line support management
- Subscription management / payment process / VAT registration
eMSP Project
• Take a lead role working with suppliers to deliver “plug and charge” capability and other eMSP functionality
- eMSP supplier selection and contracting
- Product owner for white label app implementation
- Business case and commercial proposal
- Functionality to include payment by phone and charging station information via API with a supplier
Project management
• Development of clear business requirements
• Support ISD colleagues and suppliers in achieving efficient and effective solutions to requirements
• Involve and gain support of stakeholders around the business, including Honda Motor (Japan), HME Automobile senior management, Customer Division (Aftersales), Branches (regional office in each market), and colleagues in the New Business Department.
• Oversee the delivery of project milestones, ensuring deadlines are met and that the project stays on track.
• Proactively identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and keep stakeholders informed of any potential issues.
• Work with ISD Project Managers to manage the project budget, ensuring that it stays within scope and identifying any cost overruns early.
• Address and resolve any roadblocks or conflicts that arise within the project.
• Support regional User Acceptance Testing for 0 Series
Supplier & contract management
• Support the management of the suppliers responsible for developing the GC5.0 app and eMSP services, provision of data, or other related connected services.
Other
• Honda Branch (market) Connected Services PIC (person in Charge) communications: Support progress meeting, explanation of features and commercial direction
• Manage app language translations with preferred Honda translation supplier
• Ensure customer first approach in all activities whilst balancing Honda business opportunity
• Support other New Business Department projects such as the Future Sales Programme, or cover for other colleagues’ absence in the New Business Department as and when required
Qualifications, skills and experience: Required/Desirable
Required
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written
• Self-starter, someone who is able to understand business priorities and take action accordingly in a timely manner, with little supervision
• Project management skills, including experience of successfully delivering digital projects on time and on budget.
• Confident in research, and able to select appropriate methods to fill gaps in consumer and competitor knowledge
• Good working knowledge of the following:
o Digital Marketing / customer communication strategy
o Tender processes and supplier management
Desirable
• Business Development experience in a role with responsibility for delivery commercial results.
• European experience preferred, with ability to understand and cater for cultural differences
• Experience of product management for IOT devices or connected cars
• Experience of a pan-European/ international business and stakeholder management
• Experience of automotive industry
