Job summary

Omega Resource Group is seeking an experienced Contract Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a busy FMCG manufacturing site in North Yorkshire. You will provide hands-on mechanical maintenance within an automated environment to maximise uptime and efficiency.

The assignment is 2 months initially, Inside IR35 with no Limited Co. engagement, typical Monday–Friday 8-hour shifts and onsite parking available. Competitive rate of £35-38 per hour applies.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in production/manufacturing environment with conveyors, motors and drives.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and work independently on maintenance or modification projects.
• Proactive problem-solving approach and commitment to continuous improvement.
• Computer-literate with maintenance reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance of mechanical fittings to support production and maintenance activities.
• Perform planned and reactive maintenance across production machinery, including conveyors, motors, and drives.
• Support the plant and automated systems, including pneumatics, hydraulics, and handling equipment.
• Attend to breakdowns promptly, delivering fast, safe, and effective mechanical repairs.
• Assist in modification and improvement projects on process lines and production equipment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring reliability and performance targets are achieved.
• Maintain safe working practices and uphold engineering standards across all tasks.
