The role is home based and can be Birmingham or Glasgow as a local base with a requirement to travel to Project Sites and Client Offices in the UK depending on specific requirements.

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Contract Manager to support Grid Integration (PGGI) in the United Kingdom. With an analytical, hands-on, and autonomous approach, you will contribute to the successful performance of Contract Management in the project(s) to which you are assigned. You will be responsible for preparing contracts/subcontracts, contract administration, and project execution, ensuring that contract and risk management activities are executed in a timely and accurate manner to protect Hitachi Energy's interests throughout the project lifecycle. Engagement with internal and external stakeholders will be critical; the successful candidate will be professional, diligent, proactive in communication, and confident in representing our business interests. How you'll make an impact

  • Provide guidance and leadership on contract-related matters to cross-functional business team members. Ensure project team members are aware of their responsibilities and roles to foster a team approach to Contract Management.
  • Develop contract strategies based on Hitachi Energy's policies, customer requirements, and overall execution strategy, considering risk, pricing, scope, and schedule.
  • Identify the contract baseline (including terms and conditions, specifications, drawings, estimates, proposals, schedules, and other documents) and highlight areas of opportunity and potential risk.
  • Ensure timely and accurate execution of the commercial aspects of contracts/subcontracts (payments, claims, variation orders, warranties, provisions, guarantees, etc.).
  • Verify that all contractual obligations are fulfilled by all parties and no responsibilities are outstanding.
  • Work with Hitachi Energy's Legal Representatives to develop negotiation strategies and support negotiations.
  • Support the Legal team in handling dispute resolution, litigation, and arbitration proceedings.
  • Collaborate with Legal to draft, negotiate, and finalize agreements during sales and project execution phases.

Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Business Administration, Economics, or Law.
  • Proven experience in EPC power generation, substations, converter stations, grid integration, transmission, or similar industrial plants in Contract Management, with experience managing various contractual agreements.
  • Extensive experience in administering standard form contracts, including contract drafting and supporting supply chain processes for subcontract formation.
  • Experience in change management, claim management, and legal issues related to contracts, including their impact during proposal, execution, and close-out stages.
  • Working knowledge of contracts under common law jurisdictions.
  • Ability to interface effectively with customers and subcontractors regarding contract and project matters, including change review and processing.
