Job summary

Project Partners are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to join the team in and around Apsley, Hemel Hempstead. The role focuses on planning, coordinating, and delivering the rising main programme and wastewater projects.

Candidates should have civil engineering and wastewater utilities background, hold a full driving licence, and be prepared to travel. You will manage client relations, subcontractors, and supply chain to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery and high quality standards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience delivering water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Experience administering NEC contracts.
• Full, clean driving licence; willingness to travel.
• NVQ Level 4+ or equivalent qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed project plans with scope, schedule, and budget.
• Identify and assign resources to meet programme requirements.
• Monitor costs and ensure budgets are met.

Hours: Monday – Friday, 7.30am-5.30pm, 45hrs

Salary: £90k - £110k + car allowance & excellent benefits

Project Partners are now recruiting for an experienced Contracts Manager to come and join an established team based in and around Apsley, Hemel Hempstead.

The ideal candidate will come from a civil engineering and wastewater utilities background and hold a full, clean driving licence. Travel required for this role.

Job Purpose:

The Contracts Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the rising main programme, and other wastewater infrastructure projects. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The Contracts Manager liaises with clients, stakeholders, engineers, and subcontractors to manage all aspects of the project lifecycle, ensuring successful project execution and client satisfaction. The contacts manager works with Designers and supply chain to ensure robust specification of deliverables including outputs and timelines. The contracts manager will bring expertise in the area of wastewater infrastructure and apply it to deliver best solutions for safe and efficient programmes. An important element of this role is building the confidence of the client and expanding work streams.

Job responsibilities:

• Develop detailed project plans, including scope, schedule, and budget, and ensure alignment with client and company objectives.
• Identify and assign resources, including labour, (direct and contractor), materials, and equipment, to meet programme and project requirements and optimise efficiency.
• Monitor control and report project costs, ensuring projects are completed within budget and financial targets are met.
• Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring timely completion of project milestones and deliverables.
• Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimise impact on project timelines and costs.
• Maintain effective communication with clients, providing regular updates on project progress and addressing any concerns or issues.
• Lead and coordinate the project team, including subcontractors and site supervisors, to ensure seamless project execution.
• Ensure all activities comply with quality standards, building codes, and project specifications.
• Enforce safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and progress reports, and provide regular updates to senior management.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance project delivery.

Experience required:

• Proven experience managing construction/utilities projects from start to finish, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Experience in managing client relationships and expectations.
• Experience in administration and delivery of NEC contracts.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in specification, delivery and management of water and wastewater infrastructure projects/programmes

Qualifications required:

• NVQ Level 4 or above

• Good knowledge of Microsoft Word/ Excel and Project
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification.
