Job summary

Think Specialist Recruitment is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join a busy finance team on a six-month contract in Hemel Hempstead. This hands-on role requires ownership of monthly management accounts, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and stakeholder-facing reporting.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong Excel skills, experience with ERP systems, and the ability to analyse variances, communicate clearly, and work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Management Accountant role with hands-on accounting.
• Experience preparing monthly management accounts, budgets and cash flow forecasts.
• Strong Excel skills and experience using accounting or ERP systems.
• Ability to analyse financial information, investigate variances and explain findings clearly.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Strong communication skills with non-finance stakeholders.
• Apart-qualified or qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent experience.
• Background in Practice would be highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, including journals and financial reporting.
• Manage cash flow forecasting and coordinate with stakeholders for timely information.
• Support annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
• Analyse performance vs budget, investigate variances, highlight findings.
• Monitor debtor and creditor balances and support working capital management.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Assist month-end and quarter-end processes with accurate reporting.
• Respond to financial queries and provide clear information to stakeholders.
• Build strong working relationships across the business to provide a reliable finance service.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial reporting and processes.
