Job Title: Contract Engineering Lead
Location: Hinkley Point C, Somerset, UK
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent (Staff Role)

About the Role
A major opportunity has arisen for a Contract Engineering Lead to join the team at Hinkley Point C, one of the most significant clean energy projects in Europe. This role will provide technical and engineering leadership to support manufacturing contractors delivering critical equipment across the Nuclear Island and Conventional Island/Balance of Plant buildings.
As a Contract Engineering Lead, you will be the technical focal point for contract execution, ensuring that engineering activities are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and to the highest standards of quality. This is a pivotal role embedded in the Joint Design Office (JDO), designed to enhance site-based engineering responsiveness and minimise disruption to construction activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead contract technical meetings and represent engineering at project-level discussions
  • Manage and resolve technical queries and interface issues across design, construction, and manufacturing
  • Review and approve contractor deliverables, including designs and modifications where applicable
  • Oversee the technical evolution of the contract, including managing and documenting design changes
  • Review contract amendments and technical exemptions ahead of Project Manager approval
  • Coordinate the multi-disciplinary engineering team (both front-office and back-office) supporting the contract
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure appropriate resource and budget planning
  • Monitor and report engineering Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to senior stakeholders
  • Contribute to team capability development by mentoring junior and less experienced Contract Engineering Leads
Qualifications & Experience Required
  • Degree or equivalent experience in an Engineering or Scientific discipline
  • Strong understanding of construction, installation, and Health & Safety/CDM regulations
  • Proven ability to apply multi-disciplinary technical knowledge to assess and challenge engineering designs
  • Technical background in mechanical systems, rotating equipment, steelwork, or similar disciplines
  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or energy projects, ideally within a regulated environment
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • IT literate and confident working with technical documentation and data
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English (B2 level or higher)
