Job Description

CONTRACT DESIGN ENGINEER - Mechanical Design Engineer required to assist our client, who specializes in the design, manufacture, and management of process plant and special purpose machine design within various engineering disciplines.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of our client's portfolio of products and projects in accordance with company and international standards, relevant regulatory requirements, and current legislation.

CAD Software

Autodesk Inventor and Vault - Must be proficient with working experience.

Design Experience

Understanding of P&IDs, Large Fabrications, and Pipework. Any engineering design experience and understanding of Surface Treatment would be beneficial.

Role / Responsibilities

• Produce system drawings, general arrangement drawings, sub-assembly drawings, and detail part drawings in 2D CAD or 3D Inventor, following client design principles and standards.
• Consider design for manufacture principles on all new and existing product lines.
• Produce Pipe and Instrumentation Diagrams and Bill of Materials to support project execution.
• Identify parts for equipment, ensuring selection from the company's approved product lists where possible.
• Maintain drawings to the correct issue, managing amendments in accordance with the Quality Management System.
• Maintain technical file structures and systems to company and ISO Standards.
• Produce information in a sequence and timeframe that meet production needs.

Skills / Competencies

• Exposure to the manufacturing industry (chemical and processing experience is advantageous).
• Experience with 3D modeling and 2D detailed drafting using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
• Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to produce documentation suitable for manufacturing, assembly, and installation.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
