Job summary

SeedLegals is seeking a contract Data Engineer to build a new AI-powered BI assistant from the ground up. You will own the project end-to-end, from architecture decisions to deployment, tackling routine BI questions with an AI agent and flagging complex queries for human review.

You will work with a stack including BigQuery, dbt, Metabase, and Claude/MCP, scoring against real historical queries to drive an internal pilot. The role offers hybrid/remote flexibility with London's startup ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Strong SQL and dbt experience within real-world data lineage.
• Hands-on experience building LLM/agent systems (Claude, MCP, or similar).
• Proficiency in Python for tooling and integration work.
• Experience with Metabase or similar BI tools.
• Familiarity with BigQuery or equivalent data warehouse workflows.
• Ability to own a project end-to-end solo.

Responsibilities

• Build an AI-powered BI assistant from architecture to deployed agent.
• Operate on a standalone project, addressing routine BI questions end-to-end.
• Evaluate model accuracy, cost, and maintainability against historical questions.
• Deploy to an internal pilot group and iterate based on feedback.
