Job Description

Our Business Support teams deliver vital services to ensure the success of our business divisions, including HR, Finance, Procurement, Marketing, Legal and Commercial, Estates and Facilities, Core Technology, Corporate Security, IT, and Fleet. Every team member contributes to our lasting impact. Help keep the nation's critical digital infrastructures connected and protected.

The Bid Manager leads and coordinates bid teams, including subject matter experts, bid writers, and commercial leads, to produce compelling proposals that support Telent in winning projects. They manage the full bid lifecycle for medium-value opportunities, ensuring alignment with Telent’s bid governance procedures, overseeing cost model inputs, organising reviews, documenting decisions, and tracking submission progress to ensure timely completion.

Collaborating closely with Sales, Technical, and Commercial teams, the Bid Manager delivers high-quality proposals, promotes best practices, monitors bid-related costs to maximise ROI, and supports customer relationships through meetings and presentations as needed.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead and develop bid-winning strategies in partnership with opportunity owners and business heads.
  • Produce materials from Go/No Go stage through to deal review, bid submission, and win/loss reviews.
  • Support post-bid activities including preparation of bid presentations.
  • Assist the Business Planning Director with workload planning, bid forecasting, cost and win/loss tracking, and reporting.
  • Conduct bid and proposal reviews, including recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure the Bid wiki (Bid library) is updated with information from bids you have led.
  • Share lessons learned with bid teams.

Who you are:

The ideal candidate is an experienced bid professional with a strong track record of leading and delivering successful small to medium bids, preferably in telecommunications, defence, or public services sectors. You will have excellent project management, organisational, and interpersonal skills, capable of coordinating multidisciplinary teams to produce high-quality submissions.

You should be APMP qualified (or working towards it), financially astute, and confident in writing and reviewing tender responses. A solid understanding of IT and telecommunications, with the ability to simplify complex problems and communicate effectively at all levels, is essential. Experience with TfL (London Underground, Overground, Elizabeth Line, DLR) is highly advantageous.

Key Requirements:

  • APMP or equivalent qualification (or working towards it).
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent response writing skills for ITT quality responses.
  • Financial skills for ITT cost responses.
  • Extensive experience managing and leading virtual bid teams, driving efficiencies, reviews, and continual improvement to enhance bid success rates.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Financial acumen with the ability to interpret financial reports and models.
  • Proven ability to write and review tender answers to a high standard.

A career at Telent offers opportunities across many sectors, roles, technologies, and clients, allowing you to develop, learn new skills, and make an impact. We are growing and rely on our dedicated team to deliver excellence.

  • 34 days holiday, including public holidays, with options to buy or sell five days annually.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Family-friendly policies.
  • Occupational health support and wellbeing portal.
  • Discounts on cinema, restaurants, and shopping through Telent Reward scheme.
