Job Description:
Public interest in the health of the nation’s rivers and water quality has never been higher. Thames Water is committed to protecting rivers and reducing environmental impact. A key aspect is understanding water quality and discharge effects.
We seek a capable leader for the Continuous Water Quality Monitoring (CWQM) team at Thames Water, responsible for data collection, management, interpretation, visualization, and communication.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing the CWQM team, including installation, maintenance, data interpretation, and reporting.
- Overseeing data management, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory reporting.
- Collaborating with Thames Water teams to integrate data into business tools like the River Health Tool.
- Working with operational centers for operational responses.
- Representing Thames Water at external CWQM-related forums.
- Promoting the CWQM program internally and externally.
- Working with regulators to agree on operational responses based on data.
- Attending industry events and exploring new monitoring technologies.
Location & Hours:
Hybrid at Clearwater Court, RG1 8DB; minimum two days/week, frequent site visits. 36 hours/week.
Requirements: Valid UK driving license.
Preferred qualifications and experience:
- Degree in Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Background in environmental monitoring and water quality data management.
- Stakeholder engagement experience.
- Leadership experience managing at least 5 people.
- Experience managing large budgets.
- Expertise in water quality monitoring technologies and data analysis.
- Regulatory experience related to river water quality.
- Experience with large environmental monitoring systems is desirable.
- Leadership and asset management qualifications are desirable.
Benefits include:
- Salary from £52,000 to £65,000.
